Layered Illusions: A Linocut Series with Chloe Cotsifas

PART 1 OF 4 PART SERIES IN LINOCUT PRINTMAKING

RSVP HERE

In a world of AI generated art, learn to carve and print your own designs in our linocut series with Portland artist, Chloe Cotsifas.

A Bay area native, Chloe grew up the daughter of a multidisciplinary artist and with her hands on everything arts and crafts related. Often inspired by vintage quilt and embroidery patterns and food, Chloe’s linocuts tend to lean towards layered images that play with color and the viewers perception of what are seemingly familiar everyday objects.

In this first 4 part series we’ll explore:

  1. Basics of Linocut - how to sketch, carve, and print a handmade linocut image on both paper and fabric

Chloe will guide us in bringing our visions to life and each participant will take home 5-7 prints.

Deepen your new creative and community sparks and follow this linocut skillshare series - full programming detailed below:

  • Patterned Linocuts (May 9) - how to plan and carve small pattern based linocuts to create larger connected patterned images

  • Layered Linocuts (June 6) - sketch and carve multilayered linocuts as we learn how to play with various colors to create multidimensional images

  • Mixed media Dreams (June 27) - half workshop, half celebration, finish our linocut series by unleashing your creativity in a multimedia art session. Your handmade linocuts will be the star of the show as our art supply studio opens to the community for the night. You’ll take home your own creation along with a copy of a class wide, collaborative print we’ll make in session.
